Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Panitumumab + cisplatin is a combination therapy comprising *panitumumab*, a recombinant fully human monoclonal IgG2 antibody targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and *cisplatin*, a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that forms DNA crosslinks, inducing apoptosis in proliferating cells. Panitumumab blocks EGFR signaling, thereby inhibiting tumor cell growth and survival, while cisplatin damages DNA and promotes cell death. This combination has been evaluated in clinical trials, primarily for KRAS wild-type cancers, including advanced or metastatic esophageal squamous cell cancer and biliary tract cancers. Studies have demonstrated that adding panitumumab to cisplatin-based regimens did not improve overall survival or progression-free survival compared to chemotherapy alone in these indications, although genetic and biomarker analyses may identify subpopulations where efficacy could differ[1][2][3][4].
