Overview

Panitumumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), acting as a pure antagonist by blocking ligand binding and inducing internalization of EGFR. This inhibits downstream signaling pathways involved in tumor cell proliferation, survival, and angiogenesis. Panitumumab is primarily indicated for metastatic colorectal cancer with wild-type RAS genes[2][6][8]. Paclitaxel is a chemotherapeutic agent classified as a taxane; it stabilizes microtubules and prevents their depolymerization, thereby inhibiting cell division and promoting apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells[1]. Nab-paclitaxel (albumin-bound paclitaxel) is a formulation designed to enhance delivery to tumors via albumin-mediated transport mechanisms[5]. The combination of panitumumab with paclitaxel or nab-paclitaxel has been studied in clinical trials for various cancers.
