Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pankreoflat is a combination digestive medication containing pancreatin and dimethicone. Pancreatin is a mixture of digestive enzymes (lipase, amylase, and protease) derived from the pancreas, which facilitates the breakdown of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins into absorbable units. Dimethicone (also known as dimeticone) is an anti-foaming agent that acts as a surfactant to reduce the surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract, allowing them to coalesce and be expelled more easily. Developed and marketed by Pharmaselect International, the medication is primarily indicated for the treatment of pancreatic enzyme insufficiency, dyspepsia, flatulence, and abdominal bloating. It is typically administered as film-coated tablets taken with meals to support digestion in patients with insufficient natural enzyme production.
