Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PANOLIV is a branded generic pharmaceutical combination marketed by Makshi Healthcare, primarily used for the management of acid-peptic disorders and gastrointestinal motility issues. It consists of two active ingredients: pantoprazole and levosulpiride. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces gastric acid secretion by irreversibly inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system in the gastric parietal cells. Levosulpiride, the levo-enantiomer of sulpiride, acts as a selective antagonist at dopamine D2 receptors, which enhances gastrointestinal motility and accelerates gastric emptying. This combination is typically indicated for conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), functional dyspepsia, and peptic ulcers, particularly when symptoms are associated with delayed gastric transit.
