Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Panozobactam is a next-generation beta-lactamase inhibitor antibiotic candidate designed to be combined with a beta-lactam backbone to treat serious infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria, including strains producing extended-spectrum and carbapenemase beta-lactamases. By covalently and irreversibly inhibiting a broad range of serine beta-lactamases, panozobactam is intended to restore or enhance the activity of its partner beta-lactam against otherwise resistant pathogens in hospital- and community-acquired infections. It remains an investigational agent without established regulatory approvals, with limited public information available on its precise partner antibiotic, spectrum, and clinical-stage programs.
