Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pantacip is a generic small molecule medication developed and marketed by Skyways Healthcare, containing pantoprazole as its active pharmaceutical ingredient. It belongs to the class of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and is primarily used to treat acid-related gastrointestinal disorders. The drug works by covalently binding to the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme system (the gastric proton pump) in the parietal cells of the stomach, leading to an irreversible inhibition of gastric acid secretion. Pantacip is indicated for the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease, and pathological hypersecretory conditions such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is commercially available in tablet form, typically in 20mg and 40mg strengths.
