Pantaka-d

Pantaka-d is an oral fixed-dose combination medication developed and marketed by Azkka Pharmaceuticals in India. It contains pantoprazole (40 mg), a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), and domperidone (30 mg), a prokinetic dopamine antagonist. Pantoprazole reduces gastric acid production by covalently binding to and inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system (the proton pump) at the secretory surface of gastric parietal cells. Domperidone acts as a peripheral antagonist at dopamine D2 receptors, which increases lower esophageal sphincter pressure and promotes gastric emptying by enhancing gastrointestinal motility. This combination is primarily indicated for the treatment of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and reflux esophagitis, particularly when these conditions are associated with symptoms of nausea and vomiting.
