Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Panthenol + centella asiatica extract is a topical combination formulation containing panthenol (provitamin B5) and Centella asiatica (cica) extract. It is primarily used as a skin-protective, soothing, and regenerating emollient. Panthenol acts as a humectant and skin-conditioning agent that improves stratum corneum hydration, reduces transepidermal water loss, and accelerates re-epithelialization. Centella asiatica extract, rich in active compounds like madecassoside, promotes collagen synthesis, exerts anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, and supports wound healing. This combination is being clinically evaluated for the prevention and mitigation of radiation-induced skin toxicity (radiodermatitis) in breast cancer patients undergoing adjuvant radiotherapy.
