Overview
Pantogam Aktiv is a nootropic small molecule drug developed and manufactured by the Russian pharmaceutical company PIK-PHARMA. The active ingredient is D,L-hopantenic acid (rac-hopantenic acid), which is a racemic modification containing both D- and L-isomers of hopantenic acid, distinguishing it from the original Pantogam formulation which contains only the D-isomer. The drug acts on the GABA-B receptor-channel complex, leveraging its structural similarity to gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). It is approved and marketed in Russia for a variety of neurological and psychiatric indications, including cerebrovascular insufficiency, cognitive disorders, epilepsy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), schizophrenia, and extrapyramidal disorders. Pantogam Aktiv exhibits nootropic, neuroprotective, anticonvulsant, and anxiolytic properties.
