Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pantz LSR Cap is a fixed-dose combination oral capsule containing pantoprazole and levosulpiride. Pantoprazole is a substituted benzimidazole and a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by specific inhibition of the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell. Levosulpiride is the levo-enantiomer of sulpiride, acting as a selective antagonist of dopamine D2 receptors in both central and peripheral tissues. In the gastrointestinal tract, levosulpiride functions as a prokinetic agent by increasing the lower esophageal sphincter tone and promoting gastric emptying. This combination is marketed by Ritz Pharma for the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and gastroparesis, particularly in patients who do not respond adequately to PPI monotherapy or who present with comorbid dysmotility symptoms.
