Enbacid-LS is a fixed-dose combination medication developed by Ambiens Pharmaceuticals, containing the proton pump inhibitor pantoprazole and the prokinetic agent levosulpiride. It is primarily used for the management of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), functional dyspepsia, and peptic ulcers, particularly in cases where acid suppression alone is insufficient due to impaired gastric motility. Pantoprazole acts by covalently binding to and irreversibly inhibiting the gastric H+/K+-ATPase pump in parietal cells, leading to a significant reduction in gastric acid secretion. Levosulpiride, the levo-enantiomer of sulpiride, functions as a selective antagonist at dopamine D2 receptors, which increases the release of acetylcholine in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby enhancing gastric emptying and increasing lower esophageal sphincter pressure.
