Panzytrat

Panzytrat is a pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) containing pancrelipase, a porcine-derived preparation of essential digestive enzymes including lipase, amylase, and protease. It is specifically indicated for the treatment of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) associated with conditions such as cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, and post-pancreatic surgery. The drug is formulated as enteric-coated microtablets within a capsule, designed to protect the enzymes from gastric acid degradation and ensure their release in the alkaline environment of the duodenum. By supplementing the patient's deficient endogenous enzymes, Panzytrat facilitates the hydrolysis of fats into fatty acids and glycerol, carbohydrates into dextrins and sugars, and proteins into peptides and amino acids, thereby reducing malabsorption and associated symptoms like steatorrhea.
