Overview
**Papilloguard 4** is a quadrivalent recombinant virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine developed by **Nivad Pharmed Salamat** (a spin-off of **Noyan Pajouhan Biopharma**). It is designed to protect against infection and related diseases caused by Human Papillomavirus (HPV) types 6, 11, 16, and 18. The vaccine contains recombinant major capsid L1 proteins of these four HPV genotypes, which self-assemble into non-infectious VLPs that mimic the native virus structure to elicit a robust neutralizing antibody response. Unlike the reference quadrivalent vaccine Gardasil, which uses an aluminum-based adjuvant, Papilloguard 4 is formulated with the **AS04** adjuvant system (monophosphoryl lipid A adsorbed on aluminum hydroxide) to enhance immunogenicity. It is currently in Phase III clinical development in Iran for the prevention of HPV infection, genital warts, and HPV-related cancers such as cervical cancer.
