Parabacteroides distasonis cell-free supernatant is a complex mixture of metabolites, proteins, and signaling molecules secreted by the anaerobic gram-negative bacterium *Parabacteroides distasonis* during cultivation. In the context of colorectal cancer (CRC) research, *P. distasonis* has been identified as a species that is often enriched in the gut microbiota of CRC patients compared to healthy individuals. While supernatants from beneficial bacteria like *Bifidobacterium* species have shown inhibitory effects on tumor growth in organoid models, the supernatant of *P. distasonis* is often studied to understand the metabolic landscape of the CRC-associated microbiome and its potential role in promoting or modulating the tumor microenvironment. Beyond oncology, metabolites within the *P. distasonis* secretome, such as succinate and secondary bile acids, are investigated for their roles in host metabolic regulation and inflammation.
