Overview

ParaCel is a proprietary riboflavin formulation developed by Dr. Roberto Pinelli for epithelium-on (epi-on) corneal collagen cross-linking. It is used to treat keratoconus, a condition characterized by progressive thinning and weakening of the cornea. Avedro acquired the intellectual property rights to ParaCel from the Switzerland Eye Research Institute in 2011, aiming to provide a safer, faster, and less invasive treatment option for keratoconus by avoiding the pain and risks associated with epithelium removal.
