Overview

Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is a widely used non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic agent. While its exact mechanism of action is not fully elucidated, it is believed to act primarily in the central nervous system by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, particularly COX-2, and potentially interacting with the endogenous cannabinoid system and descending inhibitory serotonergic pathways. Unlike traditional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), it has minimal peripheral anti-inflammatory activity and does not significantly inhibit platelet aggregation. Parcam is a branded generic formulation of paracetamol developed by Rishab Health Care, provided as an injectable for the management of acute pain and fever when oral administration is not feasible.
