Overview

Paracetamol + chlorphenamine is a fixed-dose combination medication comprising the analgesic and antipyretic paracetamol (acetaminophen) and the first-generation H1-antihistamine chlorphenamine (chlorpheniramine) maleate. Paracetamol exerts its effects primarily through the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system, reducing pain and fever. Chlorphenamine acts as a competitive antagonist at the H1 histamine receptor, alleviating symptoms of allergic reactions and the common cold, such as rhinorrhea and sneezing. This combination is widely utilized as an over-the-counter (OTC) treatment for symptomatic relief of cold and flu symptoms, including headache, fever, and nasal congestion.
