Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BITUGESIC MF/DS is a combination oral suspension containing paracetamol (acetaminophen) and mefenamic acid, developed by Amvia Biotech. Paracetamol is a widely used analgesic and antipyretic that acts primarily by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system. Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) belonging to the fenamate class, which works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing the production of inflammatory prostaglandins. This combination is formulated as a suspension (available in standard and double strengths) to facilitate administration in pediatric patients for the treatment of mild to moderate pain, fever, and inflammatory conditions such as dysmenorrhea.
