Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anka Huangmin Capsules (氨咖黄敏胶囊) is a widely used over-the-counter (OTC) compound cold medication in China. It is a fixed-dose combination containing paracetamol (acetaminophen), caffeine, chlorphenamine maleate, and artificial cow-bezoar. Paracetamol acts as an antipyretic and analgesic by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant that enhances the antipyretic and analgesic effects of paracetamol while mitigating drowsiness. Chlorphenamine maleate is a first-generation antihistamine that relieves allergy-like symptoms such as runny nose, nasal congestion, and sneezing. Artificial cow-bezoar provides additional antipyretic and sedative properties. The combination is indicated for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with the common cold and influenza, including fever, headache, sore throat, nasal congestion, and muscle aches. Shanghai Huayuan Anhui Renji Pharmaceutical is one of the approved manufacturers and distributors of this generic formulation.
