Overview
Acetalvic Codeine is a combination analgesic and antipyretic drug manufactured by Vidipha Central Pharmaceutical in Vietnam. It consists of paracetamol (acetaminophen) and codeine phosphate, available in two strengths (8 mg or 30 mg of codeine). Paracetamol provides non-opioid pain relief and fever reduction by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, primarily in the central nervous system. Codeine phosphate is an opioid analgesic that acts as a prodrug, being metabolized into morphine which then binds to mu-opioid receptors to modulate pain perception. The drug is indicated for the management of moderate acute pain and fever in patients over 12 years of age when single-agent analgesics are insufficient.
