The regimen consists of the intravenous administration of 1 gram of paracetamol (acetaminophen) and 30 mg of ketorolac every 6 hours for a duration of three days post-surgery. Paracetamol acts primarily through central analgesic mechanisms, while ketorolac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes to reduce prostaglandin synthesis. Intravenous morphine sulfate is typically included as a rescue medication for breakthrough pain (VAS ≥ 4). This combination aims to provide effective acute pain control following thoracic procedures.
