Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Paragol (also marketed as Paragol N) is an oral emulsion developed and marketed by Streuli Pharma. Its active ingredient is mineral oil (liquid paraffin), which acts as a lubricant laxative in the gastrointestinal tract. Paragol is indicated for the short-term treatment of constipation, as well as for conditions where facilitated defecation is beneficial, such as hemorrhoids or anal fissures. It works by coating the stool and the intestinal wall, reducing friction and preventing water reabsorption, which softens the stool and eases its passage.
