Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Paramethasone is a synthetic fluorinated glucocorticoid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant properties. It acts as an agonist of the glucocorticoid receptor. Paramethasone inhibits leukocyte infiltration at sites of inflammation and interferes with mediators of the inflammatory response by inducing phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins (lipocortins), which control the biosynthesis of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. It also suppresses humoral immune responses by reducing cytokine production (notably IL-2) and limiting T cell proliferation. Paramethasone is used to treat various inflammatory or allergic conditions that respond to glucocorticoids[1][2][4][5].
