Paranit

Paranit is a topical pediculicide used for the treatment of head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) and their eggs (nits). Unlike traditional chemical treatments that rely on neurotoxic pesticides, Paranit acts through a mechanical mechanism of action. The formulation typically contains a mixture of dimethicone (a silicone oil) and mineral oils (such as isoparaffin) which work by physically coating the lice and blocking their respiratory spiracles, leading to suffocation and death through dehydration.
