The paratyphoid A conjugate vaccine is a monovalent vaccine candidate developed by the Lanzhou Institute of Biological Products for the prevention of paratyphoid fever caused by *Salmonella enterica* serovar Paratyphi A. The vaccine consists of the O-specific polysaccharide (O-SP) of the bacterium covalently linked to a tetanus toxoid (TT) carrier protein. This conjugation converts the T-cell independent polysaccharide into a T-cell dependent antigen, which significantly improves its immunogenicity, particularly in infants and young children, and induces long-term immunological memory. Clinical trials, including Phase 3 studies in China, have evaluated its safety and efficacy, aiming to address the significant burden of paratyphoid A in endemic regions where traditional typhoid vaccines do not provide cross-protection.
