Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Parconazole is a broad-spectrum imidazole derivative with antifungal activity. It functions by inhibiting the cytochrome P450 dependent 14 alpha demethylation of lanosterol, a crucial step in the synthesis of ergosterol. Ergosterol is a vital component of fungal cell membranes. By disrupting ergosterol synthesis, parconazole compromises the integrity and permeability of the fungal cell membrane, leading to the loss of essential intracellular components and ultimately inhibiting fungal cell growth.
