Overview

**Pardaxin** is a membrane-lysing antimicrobial peptide originally isolated from marine fish species including *Pardachirus marmoratus* and *Pardachirus pavovinus*. It consists of 33 amino acids and is recognized for its cytolytic and cytotoxic activity, including permeabilization of cell membranes by forming stable or transient pores[2][3][4]. It exhibits potent antimicrobial effects and has demonstrated antitumor properties in preclinical models by inhibiting cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis through both mitochondrial and death receptor/NF-κB pathways, and promoting differentiation and maturation of leukemic cells[3][5]. Additionally, pardaxin induces dopamine release from pheochromocytoma cells by activating arachidonic acid cascades and influencing phospholipase A2 and lipoxygenase pathways, independent of extracellular calcium[1]. Its mechanisms are multifactorial and include modulation of caspases, suppression of tumor cell growth, and membrane disruption[3][5].
