Overview
Paris polyphylla detoxification tincture is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal preparation developed by the Tianjin Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated Hospital. The primary active component is derived from the rhizome of *Paris polyphylla* (known as Chonglou in TCM), which contains a variety of steroidal saponins, including polyphyllin I, II, VI, and VII. These constituents exhibit anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antiviral activities. In clinical practice, the tincture is used as an adjuvant treatment for acute herpes zoster (shingles) to promote the healing of skin lesions, alleviate acute pain, and reduce the incidence of postherpetic neuralgia (PHN). It is typically evaluated in real-world settings in combination with standard antiviral therapies like acyclovir or famciclovir.
