Overview

PAS-403 (formerly ST-403) is a cannabinoid-based small molecule therapeutic developed by Pascal Biosciences for the treatment of glioblastoma and brain metastases originating from other cancers. It acts as a mitosis inhibitor by destabilizing microtubules, which effectively blocks cancer cell division. A key pharmacological advantage of PAS-403 is its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, a property that distinguishes it from many other mitotic inhibitors and makes it suitable for treating central nervous system malignancies. The compound was originally discovered in the laboratory of Dr. Nephi Stella at the University of Washington and was subsequently licensed by Pascal Biosciences. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that PAS-403 accumulates in the brain, shows activity against human glioblastoma cells, and exhibits synergy with standard-of-care treatments in animal models.
