Pastucovac is a recombinant protein subunit COVID-19 vaccine developed through a collaboration between the Pasteur Institute of Iran and the Finlay Vaccine Institute of Cuba. It is the Iranian version of the Cuban Soberana Plus vaccine, transferred at the formulation stage. The vaccine consists of a dimeric form of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein's receptor-binding domain (RBD), produced in CHO cells and adjuvanted with aluminum hydroxide. It is designed to elicit neutralizing antibodies and cellular immune responses against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Pastucovac has been authorized for use in Iran for both adults and children (under 18) and has been evaluated in specific populations, including patients who have undergone allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
