Overview

PAT-SC1 is a fully human IgM monoclonal antibody that specifically targets an isoform of CD55 (decay-accelerating factor, designated CD55PAT-SC1), which is overexpressed on gastric cancer cells (74% of cases) but absent on healthy tissues. It induces antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) and direct cell killing, as demonstrated in a neoadjuvant clinical trial where a single 20 mg intravenous dose administered 48 hours prior to gastrectomy in 51 patients with CD55-positive gastric cancer was safe with only reversible WHO grade I side effects and showed evidence of tumor cell killing and improved long-term survival as a secondary endpoint.[1][3][4][5][6][16] Originated by OncoMab and developed by Patrys Limited, it received U.S. FDA orphan drug designation for gastric cancer and was out-licensed exclusively for oncology indications in China to Hefei Co-source Biomedical Co. Ltd in 2015, with Patrys retaining rights outside China.[2][4][6][13][14][18]
