Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Patrinia scabiosaefolia extract is a plant-derived extract obtained from the perennial plant *Patrinia scabiosaefolia*, traditionally used in Chinese medicine (TCM) primarily for its anti-inflammatory, detoxifying, and anticancer properties[2][1]. Chemically, it is rich in triterpenoid saponins and volatile compounds[2]. Preclinical studies (both in vitro and in vivo) indicate that ethanol extracts of Patrinia scabiosaefolia inhibit the proliferation of colorectal and renal cancer cells by inducing cell cycle arrest, suppressing tumor angiogenesis, and downregulating key metabolic pathways—specifically by downregulating SIRT-1 expression and inducing dephosphorylation of mTOR[1][3]. The extract also shows anti-inflammatory effects, reportedly via modulation of the IL-17/CCL2 pathway and reduction of oxidative stress[4]. In clinical TCM practice, it is used for treating a range of inflammatory conditions and gynecological disorders, though systematic pharmacokinetic and controlled clinical trial data are lacking[2].
