Patulitrin is a natural flavonoid glycoside, specifically the 7-O-glucoside of patuletin, isolated from the flowers of *Tagetes patula* (French Marigold). It has demonstrated significant cytotoxic activity against human cervical carcinoma cell lines, including SiHa (HPV-16) and HeLa (HPV-18), while showing minimal toxicity toward normal human keratinocytes (HaCaT). The compound's mechanism of action involves the induction of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, which leads to oxidative stress, morphological changes, and subsequent cell death. Currently, patulitrin is in the pre-clinical research stage as a potential therapeutic candidate for the treatment of cervical cancer.
