Overview

**PAX-102** is a proprietary intranasal formulation of suramin sodium, an antipurinergic therapy (APT) developed by PaxMedica for neurodevelopmental disorders. Suramin, historically used for African trypanosomiasis, is repurposed here for its potential to block purinergic receptors, addressing mitochondrial dysfunction and neuroinflammation implicated in conditions like autism spectrum disorder (ASD). PAX-102 targets less severe forms of ASD and other neurologic indications, offering a non-invasive alternative to intravenous suramin (PAX-101), with no FDA-approved therapies currently available for ASD core symptoms.[1][3][4]
