PAXG is a combination chemotherapy regimen used in the treatment of advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma. The acronym "PAXG" stands for a four-drug combination consisting of nab-paclitaxel (Abraxane), gemcitabine, capecitabine (Xeloda), and cisplatin. This regimen has been investigated in clinical trials for its efficacy and safety in patients with stage III-IV pancreatic cancer. Each component acts via different mechanisms to inhibit tumor growth and proliferation: - Nab-paclitaxel is a microtubule inhibitor. - Gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis. - Capecitabine is an oral prodrug converted to 5-fluorouracil, which inhibits thymidylate synthase. - Cisplatin forms DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis.
