Pazufloxacin is a synthetic broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including drug-resistant and anaerobic strains. It is primarily used to treat urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections (such as lung abscess and pneumonia), abdominal infections (including peritonitis, liver abscess, gallbladder infection), uterine infection (endometritis), and secondary infections following injuries or surgery. The drug acts by inhibiting bacterial DNA synthesis through dual inhibition of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes. This multimodal mechanism disrupts essential processes such as DNA polymerization, supercoiling, and chromosome fragmentation in bacteria. Its unique structure confers potent antibacterial activity with a low potential for resistance development[4][5][8]. Pazufloxacin is administered intravenously.
