PB-TL01 is a PSMA-targeted radioligand therapy (RLT) being developed by Primo Biotechnology for the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). The therapeutic agent consists of a targeting ligand specific for the Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA), which is significantly overexpressed on the surface of prostate cancer cells, conjugated to the beta-emitting radioisotope Lutetium-177 (177Lu). Following intravenous administration, PB-TL01 selectively binds to PSMA-expressing tumor cells and is internalized. The decay of 177Lu releases high-energy beta particles that induce double-stranded DNA breaks and subsequent apoptosis in the targeted cells and adjacent tumor tissue via the crossfire effect. PB-TL01 is currently in preclinical development.
