Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PB002 is a rationally designed, co-cultured bacterial consortium being developed by PharmaBiome for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. As a live biotherapeutic product, it consists of nine specific bacterial strains selected to restore missing functional niches in the dysbiotic gut microbiome of patients. Unlike traditional fecal microbiome transplantation (FMT), PB002 is produced using a proprietary co-culture technology in bioreactors, ensuring a defined, standardized, and scalable composition. The therapy is designed for oral administration and aims to restore intestinal homeostasis and address the underlying functional deficiencies that drive chronic inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease, rather than merely managing symptoms.
