Overview

PB020 is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody being developed by Polpharma Biologics Group for the treatment of blood disorders. Although the developer's official pipeline lists the asset's specific target as undisclosed, industry databases and pharmaceutical reports identify PB020 as a biosimilar of eculizumab (Soliris). Eculizumab is a terminal complement inhibitor that binds to the complement protein C5, preventing its cleavage into C5a and C5b and thereby blocking the formation of the terminal complement complex (C5b-9). This mechanism is critical for treating complement-mediated conditions such as paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) and atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS). PB020 is currently in the early stages of development, specifically in the cell line development phase.
