PBC027 is an experimental in vivo CD19-targeting CAR-T cell therapy developed by Chongqing Precision Biotech Co., Ltd. Unlike traditional CAR-T therapies that require complex ex vivo manufacturing—where a patient's T cells are collected, genetically modified in a lab, and then re-infused—PBC027 is designed to generate CAR-T cells directly within the patient's body. This is achieved using a proprietary platform that combines targeted lentiviral vectors and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technologies to deliver the chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) gene to T cells in situ. The therapy specifically targets CD19, a protein expressed on the surface of B cells, making it a potential treatment for various B-cell malignancies. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for safety and efficacy in patients with relapsed or refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.
