PBC068 is an autologous CD19-targeted chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Chongqing Precision Biotech Co., Ltd. It is designed to treat refractory autoimmune diseases by genetically engineering a patient's own T-cells to express a CAR that specifically targets the CD19 antigen found on B cells. Upon intravenous infusion, these engineered cells induce a deep depletion of CD19-positive B cells, which is intended to eliminate pathogenic autoantibody-producing cells and facilitate immune system reconstruction. The therapy is currently being evaluated in a Phase I clinical trial for refractory juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) and is also under investigation for other B-cell mediated autoimmune conditions, including systemic lupus erythematosus and systemic scleroderma.
