pBI-11 is a DNA-based therapeutic vaccine developed for the treatment of human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated diseases. It encodes the E6 and E7 genes of both HPV16 and HPV18 virus types fused to the HSP70 molecular adjuvant. The vaccine is designed to stimulate an immune response against cells expressing these oncogenic viral proteins. In clinical development, it is used as part of a heterologous prime-boost immunization regimen (PVX-7), where pBI-11 DNA vaccine serves as the priming agent followed by a recombinant attenuated vaccinia virus vector (TA-HPV) as booster. The primary indications under investigation include cervical cancer, oropharyngeal cancer, and persistent HPV16/18 infection with low-grade precancerous lesions[1][2].
