Overview

PBI-4425 is an orally active small‑molecule analog of the anti‑fibrotic agent PBI‑4050, developed by Liminal BioSciences (formerly ProMetic Life Sciences) as a dual modulator of G‑protein–coupled receptors GPR40 and GPR84 with anti‑inflammatory and anti‑fibrotic properties.[1][2][5][8] Preclinical and early clinical work has focused on fibrotic and inflammatory diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary emphysema, and diabetic nephropathy, where PBI‑4425 reduced lung emphysema and improved kidney parameters in experimental models, supporting its potential as a novel therapy for fibrosis‑driven organ damage.[2][8]
