Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PBP1603 is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody candidate targeting complement component 5 (C5). Developed by Prestige Biopharma (PBK), it is designed as a biosimilar to eculizumab (Soliris). The drug works by binding to the C5 protein, thereby inhibiting its cleavage into C5a and C5b and preventing the formation of the terminal complement complex (C5b-9). This mechanism is intended to treat complement-mediated diseases such as paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) and atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS). It is currently in preclinical development.
