PBS Vax HIV Vaccine

The PBS Vax™ HIV Vaccine is a clinical-stage, prime-boost vaccine candidate developed by Auro Vaccines (formerly Profectus BioSciences) for the prevention and treatment of HIV infection. The regimen employs a dual-modality approach: a GeneVax™ DNA prime, which is a multi-antigen HIV DNA vaccine encoding env, gag, pol, nef, tat, and vif, co-formulated with IL-12 as a molecular adjuvant and delivered via electroporation; followed by a VesiculoVax™ viral-vector boost, which is a recombinant vesicular stomatitis virus (rVSV)-based vector encoding HIV gag. The vaccine is designed to induce robust CD4+ and CD8+ T cell-mediated immune responses against multiple HIV antigens. A Phase 1 clinical trial (HVTN 087) demonstrated that the GeneVax™-primed T cell responses were synergistically boosted by the VesiculoVax™ vector.
