pCB6-2J2 is an experimental gene therapy construct consisting of a pCB6 plasmid vector encoding the human Cytochrome P450 2J2 (CYP2J2) enzyme. CYP2J2 is a primary epoxygenase in the heart and vasculature that metabolizes arachidonic acid into epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs). These EETs exert significant biological effects, including vasodilation, inhibition of NF-κB-mediated inflammation, and protection against apoptosis. Preclinical studies have utilized pCB6-2J2 to treat various cardiovascular and metabolic conditions, such as hypertension, myocardial infarction, and insulin resistance, by restoring or enhancing the CYP2J2/EET pathway to improve endothelial function and reduce oxidative stress. The construct is primarily used in academic research to explore the therapeutic potential of increasing local EET levels in target tissues.
