Overview

pCI-neo-C1QBP is a recombinant DNA expression plasmid used in molecular biology research to induce the overexpression of the Complement component 1, q subcomponent binding protein (C1QBP) in mammalian cells. The construct utilizes the pCI-neo mammalian expression vector, which features the human cytomegalovirus (CMV) immediate-early enhancer/promoter for high-level constitutive expression and a neomycin resistance gene for selection in mammalian cells. In the context of oncology research, specifically triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), pCI-neo-C1QBP is employed to study the oncogenic role of C1QBP, a protein localized primarily in the mitochondria that regulates cell proliferation, apoptosis, and metabolic signaling. Studies using this plasmid have demonstrated that C1QBP overexpression promotes the growth and survival of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells, identifying C1QBP as a potential therapeutic target.
