PCS11T is a next-generation prodrug of SN-38, the active metabolite of irinotecan. It is designed as a more stable and targeted alternative to irinotecan for the treatment of various cancers including colorectal, small cell lung, pancreatic, ovarian, and other solid tumors. The drug utilizes a proprietary molecular nano-motor (MNM) technology that preferentially accumulates in tumor cells over normal cells by forming an albumin/drug complex. This results in significantly higher concentrations of SN-38 within tumors compared to conventional irinotecan—up to 200 times higher in preclinical models—while reducing exposure in healthy tissues. The improved tumor targeting allows for lower dosing with greater efficacy and an improved safety profile; notably it may avoid severe side effects such as the Black Box diarrhea warning associated with irinotecan. PCS11T is being developed by Processa Pharmaceuticals under license from Aposense Ltd., and remains in preclinical development[1][3][5][6][7].
