Overview
PCV Next-Generation Series Vaccine (PCV系列迭代疫苗) is a pipeline program of pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCV) under development by Shandong Kunli Biopharmaceutical. The program focuses on iterative or next-generation versions of the vaccine, which typically implies the inclusion of additional Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes or the use of improved conjugation technologies to enhance the immune response compared to existing 13-valent or 15-valent vaccines. As a conjugate vaccine, it functions by chemically linking bacterial capsular polysaccharides to a carrier protein, transforming the T-cell independent response into a T-cell dependent one, thereby providing better protection in infants and establishing immunological memory. The program is currently in the preclinical stage for the prevention of pneumococcal diseases, including pneumonia, meningitis, and bacteremia.
