Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PCV20 + LiteVax Adjuvant is an investigational adjuvanted 20-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV). It combines Pfizer's Prevenar 20 (PCV20), which contains capsular polysaccharides from 20 Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes conjugated to the CRM197 carrier protein, with LiteVax Adjuvant (LVA), a novel adjuvant designed to enhance vaccine efficacy. The combination is being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to determine if the addition of LVA can maintain immunogenicity at significantly reduced antigen doses (e.g., 1/5th of the standard PCV20 dose). This dose-sparing strategy is intended to reduce vaccine costs and increase supply, particularly for use in low- and middle-income countries to prevent pneumococcal diseases such as pneumonia, meningitis, and bloodstream infections.
